Spoon feeding was going so well...

My Dd is 8mo and has been spoon fed mashed food for the last 2 months. This week she has been flat out refusing the spoon. Just grabs it, throws food everywhere and just turns her head. I have tried offering food on her tray but this just gets mashed around and thrown. Nothing seems to be going in her mouth. As a result she's now happily guzzling 6-8 7oz bottles each day because she's so hungry.

I have tried giving her a spoon to hold, loading a spoon up for her to use herself but this doesn't make any difference! She's gone from 3 meals to zero! It's frustrating me and her... any/all help will be much appreciated Smile

Is she feeling poorly, maybe a cold? If she has a sore throat then that might explain why she only wants milk, or maybe she's just off her food. It's probably one of those things that will pass, but now is probably a good time to start moving onto finger foods anyway if she does decide she doesn't want to be spoon fed any more.

Thanks for responding Noblegiraffe, I have tried finger foods but she just won't eat them... They get mashed or thrown. She was poorly last month but has seemed to be over it. She has started crawling this week so maybe she just hasn't got time to eat!

Could well be it. Try not to stress and just let her have as much milk as she wants. If she's still like this next week its probably worth taking her to the GP and getting her ears and throat checked. I'd try her with a dose of ibuprofen about half an hour before her lunch tomorrow and see if that helps too.
