Eggs before one, yey or ney? Every study I read seems to contradict the last!

Small child here at them before one y.o. and was fine, my friend's DD had a nasty reaction to them though ( not anaphylactic, but came out in a nasty rash and ran a temperature). They didn't give her any more until after her first birthday and no reactions since.

My HV said it was fine, as long as they're well cooked. I would also not give too much, and I think I'd wait until 9 months or so, so that its bit an early thing for the digestive system to tackle.

I was told eggs were fine after 6 months as long as well cooked. I tried them with both DD and DS at about 7 months. Both loved them but came out in a red rash round their mouth, it wasn't enough to seek medical help and calmed after a couple of hours. I then waited until after 1 and both are fine now. I always gave them stuff with eggs in, like cake, pancakes etc which they were fine with. I just gave nothing with it concentrated like omelette.

I have 7 mo and he has had banana omelette, mushroom omelette, pancakes and been fine, I just assumed it had to be well cooked.

Dd loves omelette, has had them since about 8 months. Tortilla was an early food at 6.5 mo. I wasn't aware there was a reason not too. She'd had most obvious allergens by 9mo, just no nuts, as we're both a bit allergic to some things.

Why would you not? If the eggs are lion marked/cooked through there is v little risk of salmonella or is it more to do with allergies you are worried about.

More the allergies than anything, I've read don't give whites untill a year but yolks are fine, give all but make sure fully cooked, blah blah... Just wanted clarification smile

My dd adored omelettes, scrambled eggs and hard boiled eggs make a great snack. dS loved eggy bread and 'egg in a hole', break an egg into a hole in a thick slice of bread and fry.

I think it's one of those foods that can trigger allergies. 2 of my NCT group of 6 have DCs with egg allergy, one which resulted in a trip to A&E. I have given them to my two since 6 months old and they love them

My DD adored omelettes too. It's one of her favourite foods. She's had it since 6mo. I think you just have to be careful as with any known allergen.
