Weaning and night waking

Just started weaning baby. He was always a good sleeper, but since weaning he has woken up every couple of hours, he feeds and then sleeps, but while he is sleeping he is groaning and moaning.

He used to do this before I cut milk out of my diet and realised he had a milk intolerance.

Could he be constipated? Am I feeding him too much? He loves his food. I was just giving as an evening meal, but maybe will now just offer him breakfast and lunch??

Why are things never straight forward?

What are you feeding him? If it's nothing "milky" then I doubt it it'sfrom the intolerance.
Are you offering him a bottle anyway or have you drop down the dinner one? some kids get fussy missing the dinner bottle for a while...

I've only given him baby rice and breastmilk and some apple and pear mixed in.

He wolfs it down, but I think it was probably too much too soon. He has not dropped any feeds

I found when my DS weaned that his digestive system took a little while to catch up and he did wake more often in the night.

No idea if it would work but I read that it's best to feed earlier in the day to start with, so give him lunch rather than supper. Then he might get over any digestive issues before bed time.

My dd got constipated on the same food you are giving your DS. Do keep an eye on it. With dd I had to stop weaning for a few weeks and try later, as she didn't poo for 10 days! But when I tried again later everything went fine, the HV said perhaps dd's digestive tract had matured.

Weaning really messed with DD's sleep for about the first 3 weeks, but it's got much better now. She also had terrible constipation and I think making sure she drank lots of water helped with this.

Thanks for the replies. I only gave food at breakfast yesterday and then he just BF all day. After his bath he did a huge poo and seemed much happier for it. Am going to just do food in the morning and lunchtimes for a bit, see how it goes.
