No teeth - meat?

My DD2 is 10 months. She hates food with lumps so I am doing a combination of finger food (which she loves) plus purees. I am currently pureeing meat dishes but would like to give some as finger food. However, she has no teeth so I wondered how she'd cope. Any thoughts?

She'll probably just sick all the meaty juice out of it!

My DS was never terribly find of meat but I always offered it. He used to suck or have a bit of a chew but never actually eat it.

Ds would gum strips of meat to death - soft things like chicken would slowly break up, beef would eventually be discarded as a sad grey strip of connective tissue

My two loved.sticks of meat from the off - roast beef or pork was best as it holds together well. Chicken turns to shreds. Definitely fun to play with.

The first time my parents saw my ds eat, he was 6mo and chomped a stick of pork snitzel in Carluccios for half an hour, then proudly gave my dad this network of white collagen with no meat left in it at all. Dad was hugely proud and revolted at the same time!

She'll chew the meat, she has teeth, they're under the gums.

DS used to LOVE meat when he was weaning. Strips of steak, chicken drumsticks, bits of roast meat. Just make sure the piece is nice and long enough for them to hold. It was nice as I worried less when he had meat as I knew random bits wouldn't break off it whilst he was chewing on it so less of a choking hazard than other foods.

If you fish it out of a nice slow cooked casserole for her, it'll just break up as she gums it. Dd also has no teeth, but meat of all description is one of her favourites. A quick meal is chicken poached in milk - just a couple of minutes in the microwave and the chicken stays nice and soft.

My DS (7.5m) really struggles with meat. I'm now wondering if its my cooking. He manages to break big chunks off and it seems to lodge in the roof of his mouth. Its probably the thing he gags on most, quite scary when his wee face turns bright red with tears running down his face. DH doesn't help by screaming "he's choking, quick pull it out of there". Dont let my DS put you off OP, DS does enjoy his meat, its us that are on tenderhooks.
