Weaning - doesn't like anythin slimey!

Why not just puree what you are having prior to salt being added. That was what I felt was the beauty of weaning at 6 months - dd very quickly just ate what we did after a couple of days of carrot - carrot/potato. Not very adventurous me
Toast, cheeses on toast, bread sticks etc. went down well.

For what it's worth babies in France and Belgium get the juice of 1/2 an orange every day from 4 months !

You really need to be careful with salt (dangerous) and sugar (addictive) - other than that most is OK and if in doubt don't give ! You will always find books that tell you not to give x, y or z before x age.
In Switzerland they give honey at 6 months !
Soem say not to give potatoes, aubergines and tomatoes before 9 to 12 months old.

BTW - I'm like Mears - fed adult food very early on - I cook without salt generally anyway and do most of my stuff from scratch.
