God no, offering alternatives is a very, very slippery slope and one you really don't want to go down.

If he's not eating because of pain, have you tried giving ibuprofen half an hour before dinner and then a teething gel like dentinox just before he eats?

He might also like some sticks of cool cucumber, a frozen banana and a clean, cold wet flannel to chew on.

Try to get Dh to look at what DS has eaten over a week and not just one meal. If he hasn't got much experience of children, it can be easy to panic if a child missing one meal, but really, he won't starve smile.

Think the HCPs always say to look at a week. Why is DH so worried. Has he got experience of toddlers and what they eat and is comparing him to that or does he just think he should eat everything at every meal? If he is really worried do the ibuprofen and teething gel and get DH to keep a food diary on behalf of DS for a week.

Think sometimes it can be hard even when you do have experience tbh, I've got a massive family so had lots of baby experience before having dc. DS came along and is greedy, dd came along and barely eats. Since we've started here's your food, you can eat it if you want, but there's nothing else approach she actually eats more than she used to and mealtimes are more relaxed.

You are not being mean. You've already said he is still having milk so he definitely won't starve smile
