milk Vs food...?

DD is 7 1/2MO. She is on 3 meals a day plus BFs every 3 hours. When can I start decreasing on breast feeds. I am getting mixed information. some people saying shouldn't decrease BF until a year and others saying now and up the amount of food. Is there a standard of how much milk and food she should be having at this age and over the coming months as we continue to wean her? Many thanks.

in addition, dd was not sleeping well, waking every 2 hours, which is why i had the recommendation to keep the Bfeeding. so i am scared to change things in case she reverts back. saying that, she stil wakes frequently.

They should have about 500-600ml milk per day as a minimum until they are 1. The official advice is that if a baby is EBF, they need vitamin drops (vitamins are added to formula so if a formula fed baby has at least 500ml /day then drops are not necessary).

I haven't bf past 6 months but I would think your baby would let you know when she is ready to drop a feed? DS (8 months) had dropped a feed a couple of weeks ago, he was just not interested in his milk morning milk anymore, but he must be having a growth spurt now as he wants this bottle again, then has lunch and another bottle mid afternoon.

As for the amount of food, she will not overeat at this age so I would just feed her as much as she wants.

thanks. But if she starts waking more in the night, should i breast feed more in the day or try and up her food? I was advised to breast feed more int he day, but this seems crazy as do feel we should be reducing milk and increasing food?

Not sure but I would think let her eat as much as she wants, she will stop when she is full, and then follow your usual bf schedule for a while, until she drops a feed by herself. S

Does this make any sense? Sorry if not, I'm playing all this weaning thing by ear myself, maybe someone more experienced will be along soon.
