The HV told me if my 9 months old having less than 15-20 oz milk daily, I should give him vitamin supplement. He is having more like 10-15 oz a day, including milk in porridge and yoghurt. (I can't blame him as he is on soya milk due to lactose intolarence.) I can't really see the point in giving him vitamin if he is having a balanced diet.
Could somebody give me some advice on this please?

My health visitor said there are increasing incidents of rickets in the UK and that's the reason on the recommendation of vitamin supplements now. Vitamin D doesn't occur naturally in food but comes from the sun. However it's added in some cereals. Just make sure your LO is eating that.

My ds is 8 months and only taking around 15oz due to milk intolerance on soya etc, and really doesn't enjoy his milk - the dietician recommended abidec vitamins , as supposedly all children under 5 should have a vitamin she says!? I got it just to be safe rather than sorry, x

it is advised to give children between 6 months and 5 years a supplement of A,C, D and E.

Thanks for all the advice, I'll get in touch with the HV tomorrow. Try to get him some vitamin. I really don't know what else I could do as today after his morning bottle he refused every offered milk.
