Ice cube trays for purees?

Planning on starting weaning in a couple of weeks and need to get organised. Am I correct in thinking that ice cube trays are ideal for freezing purees?
Received a large bag of apples and one of pears yesterday as my mum stripped her fruit trees ahead of the storm. So need to do something with them today before they start to rot. Will be off to the shops later for freezer bags etc. Before I start peeling the fruit, I guess there is about 30 lbs so heres hoping DD likes fruit.

Yes regular ice cube trays are great, when frozen into little cubes empty them into a freezer bag and take out 3-5 as you need them.
However check how long you can store in the freezer, I think 1-3 months depending on the product, so make sure you label with a date ad what it is... In my experience frozen apple purée looks a lot like frozen pear purée.

I prefer silicone ones because it's easier to tip the cubes out. I've seen a NUK/annabel karmel one in the supermarket that looks pretty good. I use a mini muffin tray that I already have.

And ikea has some that are cute animal shapes and very cheap!

Eventually settled on some lakeland ones with lids, tesco and bargain store only sell them in the summer, so turned into quite a hunt. Will ensure they are well labelled. Made a large batch of both apple and pear yesterday, steaming the pears worked a treat. Have some pears left so will do another batch today.
