Any colourful lunch ideas?

DD (8 months and BLW) seems to like colourful food.

I'm struggling with lunches - tend to do toast, cheese, peanut butter, pitta bread, egg but they are all a bit 'beige'.

If I put a cut up cherry tomato then she ALWAYS goes for that first but can only suck off the seeds before spitting out the rest.

Does anyone have any colourful suggestions.

Pudding is fine - because berries etc are all nice and colourful

Pepper, roasted or not. Fruits obviously. Veg (sweet potato is a good orange colour), cucumber.

I know exactly what you mean about the beigeness, all the things you kind of naturally offer are a bit dull/samey looking. But I don't know if that is me projecting my views or whether DS (8mo BLW) is really bothered.

I think as long as you keep a bit of variety then its ok. I don't really do 'pudding' either so give fruit in between/alongside beige stuff so kepe it more interesting.

Red/green/yellow peppers ?
Sugar snap peas, french beans ?
Red Liecester cheese ?
Advocado - mushed on toast, pittas, rice cakes (a little cream cheese helps) ?
Homemade hommous with sundried tomatos added ?

Oooh lots of good ideas - thanks everyone.

Can you give pickled beetroot or do you mean fresh (making mental note to get even more newspaper down to protect carpet!!!)

Like the idea of peppers, Red leicester cheese and had forgotten about avocado as don't like it myself.

Are prawns ok at 8 months?

Didn't think to offer fruit during the meal - I've been splitting it into savoury and then a fruit pudding - but I guess there's no need to do that

Yeah prawns are fine - my 6 mo loves them and because of their shape they're really easy to handle. Have fun.

Yep avocado - that's what I meant, not advocado !
Pickled beetroot is quite salty so I would go for fresh. You can bake it or boil it. Deliaonline has ideas on how to cook it.
Also, how about asparagus spears ?
