Weaning

Dairy products and weaning

When DD was around 14 weeks she would wake up in the night farting so much that she cried. On the advice of my GP (and MN!) I gave up dairy and things improved a little. She still wakes up at least 4 times a night (we are co-sleeping) and only goes back to sleep if I let her feed, but I think it is for comfort/habit rather than hunger (will have to deal with that at some point). She is also still farty!

Now that we are approaching 6 months and I am thinking about weaning, should I keep her off dairy products? Or should I let her try? And if so what is the best way to go about that? Or what should I give as an alternative?

I am going to do BLW and continue to breastfeed. I also wonder whether I ought to be giving her vitamin drops.

TIA

I also gave up dairy for a bit when BF'ing DD as she had terrible wind/colic, it didn't make a noticeable difference. DD has had yogs, cheese and creme fraiche in/as meals, she is 6 mo, and no probs, but like anything, too much makes a sore tummy.

May be worth trying it in small doses and seeing how she responds.

yoghurt with some fruit puree is DD's fav breakfast.
