Help! Which milk to use for weaning??

My son is 5.5 months old and I'm planning on starting to wean in about 3 weeks. I'm going to make home made vegs etc. In a recipe book I've got, most of the recipes call for say 300ml of formula milk for example.

I've read a lot of forums that say it's ok to use full fat cows milk in cooking, and I've read guidelines say small amounts of milk are ok in cooking, but what's a small amount?!?

Also I'm concerned about what to use as my son still has colic and still possets A LOT! I know you can buy formula specially for colic and reflux etc. But if it's in cooking would it make a difference.

Basically, could anyone advise what kinda milk I should use for cooking, or even if water would be a decent enough substitute, or half water half what milk?!?

As you can see I'm rather confused!!

Alot say use there 'normal' milk that there on now which I think would be best for the first few tastes as it will have a familiar taste for ur dc. Once they get use to weaning a little move on to cows milk - thats what I would do personally. Cows milk is fine from 6 months to mix in with foods / have on cereals etc. Just dont give as a main drink til 1.

Just use full fat cows milk. If your LO doesnt seem to like the taste of the purees (I'm presuming you are doing purees) then use a little bm or whatever he normally has instead. We don't do purees and just use normal full fat cows milk on his cereal or in cheese sauce or whatever, not had any problems.
