Which peanut butter?

Hi all

Can anyone recommend a good peanut butter to start DS (7mths) on? I buy the Whole Earth one for me, but am worried the smooth version will be too salty. Thanks!

Meridian do one with no added salt or sugar and I know it's available from Holland and Barrett. We buy the Hazelnut butter from the same brand. They also do a cashew nut one with no salt or sugar. You might be able to get it at some supermarkets too, but I've never looked.

you have thought about allergies, haven't you?
just that I have a very atopic history, but NO food allergies, yet DD has serious peanut allergy.

I thought no nuts before 12 months?

Peanut butter is fine after 6 months. I gave DS small amounts of Whole Earth (which is what I eat too), but Meridian sounds interesting - I'll have a look for it, thanks :)

Its no whole nuts before 12 months afaik, and that cos of the choking risk rather than allergies.

Yep no known allergy risk here so will give it a (cautious!) go. Thanks for the meridian recommendation, will try and track it down.

its no whole nuts before the age of 5 due to the choking risk. Nut products/butters are ok from 6 months. We also just used the Whole Earth one.

you could try a peanut paste (100% crushed peanuts), try an ethnic food store. we checked out loads of peanut butters but most seemed to have sugar, salt or palm oil added - although will check out the Meridian one. thx
