Old coat - do I take it to charity shop?

I've got an old coat that I don't wear anymore. Its in reasonable condition but the lining is torn.

I'm wondering whether a charity shop would carry out repairs and sell it.

Alternative would be homeless shelter but they want mainly men's clothes.

They won't repair, they get heaps of stuff, so they get to be choosy.
Can you not repair it yourself?

They don't repair but most take in ragging too and get money for it.
