(7 Posts)Just 14 yr old DS wants these two games - some friends have them blah, blah! Ratings seem to be 17+ Mature.
Having read their descriptions as well I've said NO. Am I being unfair?
No, not unfair.
And no, not all their friends will have the games. There are plenty of parents who will not have those in the house, or indeed any with an adult rating.
If the boy was 16+ then you might have a harder time in dealing with this one, as that is when a number of DS1's friends' parents seemed to ease somewhat. But we still have neither in the house.
Thank you Auntie. My feelings exactly. If he was 16 they may well be considered.
Another one who is glad you have put your foot down and said no. I love the Assassin's Creed franchise, but they are not for kids. There are very adult themes in both of these games, and it is good that you are watching his gaming content for age appropriateness. I am with Auntie on this one - you get to make these decisions for your DS, as he is not at an age where he will make the appropriate decision for himself. He's got some time to go yet...
Thanks for the backup Zazzles! I just thought about the fact that he would be playing one of these games for maybe an hour every day, killing people in a most horrific way, hearing inappropriate sexual talk etc etc. and I must think that is horrific!
Just think!
I think it is ridiculous how other parents think that 12-14 year olds can't handle M rated games: they can.
