FF7 Fans?

Just started replaying through this on pc over the weekend. Forgot how much I loved it! The graphics are not great but game play is as great as I remember it and the cut scenes are largely on par to what you see in more recent games.

Loved the storyline, and Cloud anyone else?!

As you can see from my username am also a big FF fan of the older games at least. Last couple have been a bit disappointing.

Sephiroth is definitely the best FF villain of all time. Also love the golden saucer in FF7. Still can't believe they killed off Aeris - spent the rest of the game thinking that she had to come back from the dead - I had spent ages levelling her up!! Are you going to bother breeding a gold chocobo on this playthrough?

Yeah I think so - I enjoyed going to the gold saucer - I just bought a lifetime pass on my second visit, spent ages doing fights to get enough cash!

FF7 is my ultimate game of all time! When I split up with my boyfriend all I wanted back was my psone memory card with my golden chocobo save file!

Was so proud of myself when I bred a gold chocobo on my second play through - did use a magazine how to guide but still took bloody ages - can still hear that bloomin music from the chocobo racing.

You must also be very dedicated to have got enough for a golden saucer lifetime pass OP but has anyone been dedicated enough to defeat all of the Weapons? As much as I love the games I could never be bothered to do the amount of grinding that would have been required.

Oh I never played but 8 is still my all time favourite. I loved the ongoing romance with Squall and Rinoa, loved (what I perceived as back then!) the vastness of the world to explore...
Never completed it though. Wasn't high enough level when I entered that Lunatic Pandora thingy. saaaaad

Catkisser 8 was hard - I gave up in the end and downloaded some cheat thing I got free with a magazine onto my memory card which put three of my characters to level 99 and gave me 99 of each of the most powerful spells and it Still took me three attempts to defeat the final boss! I did oonce have a pet rat Rinoa after the character though

I loved 8 too didn't get very far through it though

I fought all the monsters first time round but I'm not sure if I'll bother this time - might try and level up a few times as I've died several times fighting the ancient boss

Yes you forget about the grinding you needed to do in the old school rpgs but was all part of the fun and all the more satisfying when you go back to a previously impossible boss and wipe the floor with him. Think my favourite FF has to be X (10) - it had some of the most breathtaking cut scenes, best fight system (imo) and summons. I did also cry at the end and was very glad that got to have my happier ending with X-II. IMO I think they started to go downhill since then - I cannot even talk about what they did to moogles in 12!!! They are supposed to look like cats not rabbits!!

The next one due to come out on PS4 is looking good though so fingers crossed

Love that I can talk xp farming and grinding on MN!!

Also, Cactuar - just googled your username. I remember playing FF8 and flying over the desert and this little dancing cactus appeared - I landed and lo and behold it was you! Bloody thing - I never managed to beat it. He had a horrible needle attack.

Sorry CatKisser - yes remember the bit you are talking about in FF8 well - thinking this little green thing cannot be hard to defeat and then getting hit with 10000 needles.

I bought DH a cuddly cactuar for Xmas a few years ago. Took me ages to wrap it so that the package was the exact cactuar shape - looked very funny. It now sits happily on top of our sofa with Sackboy and a moogle (a proper cat one not a stupid rabbit one)!

Was thinking more about FF7 and bits I remember after I logged off. Remember climbing up from the Midgar slums after the bomb and seeing all the wrecked trains and bodies. Choosing whether to battle your way to top of Shinra building or run up the endless stairs. Trying to get the best outfit to dress up as woman to get in with Don Corleone. Yuffie nicking all your materia. Feeling very nostalgic and feel like playing it again. Think it is downloadable from the playstation store. Only thing putting me off is that it I am unlikely to have time to complete it before Dragon Age and Far Cry 4 come out.

I looooove final fantasy. (username is a boss in 11) Going to the 14 fanfest tomorrow and the 2 concerts in London next week where I get to meet nobuo uematsu who composed all the 7/8 music!

Oh thanks for this thread! I loved 7! Learned tactics to defeat the weapons and oh Cloud on the motorbike...
I learned that stupid card game on 8 and loved the characters. 9 too but stopped after 10. Dh has bought xiii-2 but I'm too nervous of being let down after not liking 10 too much to play it!

Oooo I'm sure I had FF7, but it got stolen before I got too far into the game . Have been looking at the more recent FF games with the intention to buy them for the PS3 .

X HD on PS3 is awesome, I've so far not enjoyed anything past that as I like turn based battles, not the button mashing while running around ones!!
