I was inspired to start this thread after seeing the poster named BanjoKazooie (excellent taste!)

I was not very old when the N64 came out and my sister and I would waste hours playing the likes of the aforementioned Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye. We also played the SNES with our Mum- she ADORED Donkey Kong Country.

My top moments include when my sister beat K.Rool in Country 2- I actually cried when the credits came on because it felt like the end of an era. We were quite shit at games what with us being under 10, so it took forever to see him nailed haha.

Also, Goldeneye was another favourite. We spent ages slapping each other as Natalia and Xenia in the Facility toilets fighting over 'perfume' (a story arc we just made up)

Banjo Kazooie... well I don't know where to begin- the 'bee level' (Click Clock Wood) was so much fun and pretty mindblowing in hindsight, given the graphics capabilities at the time.

I want to hear what other people's fave games pre xBox 360, Wii and PS4 are

Playing Half Life on the PC on my own at night and really feeling like I was in there, alone in the experimental research faculty after the nuclear disaster.

It's such an atmospheric game, my DD was a baby and I was single so I had a lot of evenings on my hands.

I've played it again for old times sake and it's still a bloody great game!

The best games are the ones that suck you in Framey, and get you emotionally invested. Thinking back to when I was in primary school a lot of art-work I did or stories I wrote were inspired by things I had seen in games I played. (Called fan-art these days haha). I would even voice-over the characters during gameplay- when I was on my own- and give them more depth.

Sounds a bit sad when I say it now, as if I was trying to escape my real life. The way I see it is that I had an overactive imagination Grin

I thought this thread would be a bit more popular, to be honest, as people tend to enjoy thinking about computer games they used to play, whether its Space Invaders or Another World. It is almost like a snapshot of what your life was like, like a soundtrack to an amazing summer you've had.

We're a Sega household here, and dh is a bit of a collector, so no need to reminisce, as we can still play :)

From my childhood mostly the frustration of bloody Thorin being so incredibly unhelpful in the dungeon! Games that you spent what seemed like hours getting the volume of the tape player just right, loading up and then being killed within minutes. From university playing Desert Strike, Ecco the Dolphin and of course Sonic the Hedgehog. A bit later playing all the fantastic Lucas Arts games (Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle etc).

360 that is, I've never owned an original XBox. I think Gamecube was at large then and I had an allegiance to Nintendo

ds's old x-box has to have a CD in it permanently and could only be opened with a knife for a while (until we took the front panel off).

When are you getting your XBox One, gamerchick? We're team PS4 in our home because DP bought one and it is our current console of choice. I was also underwhelmed by the notorious release of the Xbox One Sad

We have all of the Lucas Arts games, so all of the Monkey Islands (two being the best, natch, but we've also the newest TellTale series which weren't bad). Monkey Island II is the real reason we bought our first home PC Grin.

dh likes to play games on their original consoles - they are also generally much cheaper, he has lots of games that he bought for a couple of bucks. Mind you I'm not 100% keen as they take up a lot of room!

X-box one is a great example of how not to manage a release. We have the original and the 360 nut won't be buying a One. The new Playstation is nice though, and I've put in stupid hours on the WiiU playing Monster Hunter.

At he last possible second! I'm not going to be happy having 3 different xboxs hooked up I know that. They've done a huge back peddle on a lot of things on the one and the last one with the kinnect means it'll alright to buy now. Still not happy about it though.

I did try with the play station, well we all did.. got a 3 and in the end it just sat gathering dust until I sold it. I wish I had taken to it though.

For anyone who fancies a return to the world of Half Life (the original), the mod community re-make, Black Mesa, is terrific. The original game with modern graphics! And FREE!

Blimey, I remember half life. Think I had a tail and spent ages in a bar drinking. Couldn't really work out what I was meant to be doing but it was the first game I played where you interacted with other players. So basic compared to WOW, etc now.

I had a c64 as a kid and loved stuff like Outrun, all the Olympic game games, California games, etc.

Chuckie Egg on the bbc model b was a great game. As was Elite. And some weird castle game with no graphics only lines of text.

I played Monkey Island a few months ago. There was a new version done. Exactly the same but with new graphics.

Dungeon Keeper on the Atari 520. I actually screamed when a mummy crept up behind me :) Also WoW, and when I got my first mount (and went nuts riding up and down the road for a while), followed somewhat later by the day I finally got my Drake, after months of egg-hunting :) LOTRO and farming in The Shire, just watching the sun go down and feeling like I was really there.

Oh and Doom on the PC in the late 90s. Used to properly scare me.

andrealezac, Ratattack was a good fun game! I only really remember the names of games ps1 onwards, but will always love my NES as my mum would sit and play games with me so it was us time. Chip and Dale was a firm favourite!

PS1 games there were just too many to count! Monster Rancher, Harvest Moon, Hercules...I am just so glad controllers are no longer the rectangle shape!
