Is this egg free mayo vegan? It says vegetarian, but is it also vegan?

Might depend on what the xanthan gum is derived from.

I think it’s usually vegan but is some type of bacteria. Is that allowed?

Apparently it can be derived from whey or egg whites as week as well as vegan sources. You could email and ask

From a quick Google, it depends what the xanthan gym was produced from: it could be from a vegan source (corn, wheat etc.) or from something dairy/egg based so it would still be vegetarian but not vegan. I don’t see how you can work out which without contacting the manufacturer...
