Anyone watched this? Only managed 9 minutes, all U.K. footage standard practices. It’s like a horror film but it’s real life Sad

Yes I’ve seen it felt the need to as I wanted to tell people to watch it. Watched a lot with the screen away though.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I’ll need to try again with it, DH was watching with me and he looked at more than I did, I looked away a lot but we both wanted to stop where we did (the piglet teeth bit). We’ll go back to it.

I watched it. It's what has made me try to eat vegan as much as I can. Heartbreaking. I knew where meat and dairy came from but not the actual reality of it if you see what I mean.

@IvyandStan oh that’s amazing. Thank you for watching. Most people won’t be willing to do that and to face up to what they’re contributing to.

Yes I know exactly what you mean about the reality of it. I was shocked when I watched earthlings 8 years ago and went from vegetarian to vegan within a few days or weeks of thinking about it because I just couldn’t justify funding it any more.

I do vegan advocacy and if you ask people do you know what happens to animals in animal agriculture they always say yes but in reality they actually don’t know the truth.

Is there anything stopping you making the jump to just living fully as a vegan? Just wondering if there’s any tips or ideas that might help.

I'm managing completely vegan at home and actually enjoying it🙂found a cheese that I like(violife) which shocked me as I love cheese and the first couple I tried I hated! Quite easy to just check ingredients that things r vegan rather than vegetarian. The only thing I think I'm going to struggle with is going on holiday (camping)😬.

And I know what you mean about most people won't watch. A couple of people have asked why on earth I'm not able to eat something and I tried to explain briefly without being pushy and they just said they were able to separate those animals from other animals in there head and not think about it.

Ah that’s great you’re pretty much fully vegan then! Do you use vegan cosmetics and toiletries? Superdrug and coop are good as they label everything. Camping might be a wee bit tricky but should be do-able if you want to, can you take some things like packet mixes for soups, pasta and couscous, cereal bars, trail mix etc? You can also probably make quite a few vegan things on a camping stove.

That is true camping should be doable. Will have a look at cosmetics and check which are ok and which aren't (thanks -wouldn't have thought of that!) the only other issue I have is I live very rurally and revert to the vegetarian option if we eat out (rare prob 3 times a year) as no vegan option. Therefore I would say I'm not a true vegan but strive to eat vegan as much as I can🙂

No worries! It’s hard when everyone calls veganism a diet to remember that actually there are animal products in so much more than just food, sadly. Superdrug’s own cosmetics are all vegan and all their toiletries are marked whether they are vegan or not, kat Von D and Barry M mostly are vegan too, I think urban decay were but they now sell in China so test on animals. Soap and glory have an online vegan list. Lush marks everything if it’s vegan. It’s getting easier to access these types of things I used to have to buy everything online.

@kikisparks Footage from Land of Hope and Glory is used at "Anonymous for the Voiceless - Cube of Truth" events which I've taken part in many times. People are generaly horrified when they see the footage and we are able to use it as a way to start a conversation about animal rights and veganism with those that show an interest. Each of us that take part keep a tally of the number of people we've spoken to who have expressed a genuine interest in going vegan and the total's usually about 20-30. So, we think it's a successful way of getting across the vegan message. I haven't watched the whole of Land of Hope and Glory myself although I have seen other similar films.

@kennelmaid yes I imagine it’s used at the earthlings experience which is the same type of idea. Well done at your involvement in advocacy! I do a different type of advocacy, vegan information stalls and also challenge 22 on Facebook.

Ultimately, Kat Von D is owned by LMVH, so I know a lot of people who don’t consider that line cruelty-free/vegan.

Just wanted to say hi to kennelmaid.
I'm a fellow activist with Anonymous for the Voiceless. We had a magnificent 88 people looking at seriously at veganism after today's Cube!

Hi just wanted to pop back on here and say I'm still eating vegan as much as I can(won't call myself vegan as I eat at the local pub maybe 3 times a year and have the veggie option)I'm checking all my toiletries and cosmetics and when my handbag/boots wear out I will replace them with vegan ones🙂hope you are all well and have made more people aware of the true reality of meat/dairy x

@IvyandStan well done!

Just a suggestion it’s up to you if you follow but have you tried asking the pub if they’ll include a vegan option? Something like a Thai coconut veg curry, or a roasted vegetable tart with vegan pastry, or a non-egg pasta in tomato base sauce? I’ve been to quite few rural places which have vegan options, the demand can be there, and if they pick the right options (nothing weird) then non-vegans in particular vegetarians might well go for them too. You may be surprised you might not be the first person who has asked and if they agree you’ll be doing vegans who visit your area a big favour as they’ll have a local option Smile

@ksa103 Hi! Grin

Just made my first nut roasts today! I got the recipe from Viva! Recipe Club. I don't enjoy cooking very much because my results aren't worth the effort, but they look pretty good and taste okay too.

We are literally tiny and I'm 99%sure I'm the only vegetarian let alone vegan so don't think it would go down to well. Most people here shoot game etc . But thank you 🙂like I say I only eat out maybe 2/3 times a year mostly just pop in for a drink x

@IvyandStan I'd be less worried about people shooting game than some of the horrific conditions in the video posted on this thread. Obviously it says something about their understanding but it must be less cruel surely...
Not supporting game shooting or hunting though!
