Looking for suggestions for Vegan Christmas main courses please, to go with traditional Christmas accompaniments.
Planning stuffing, red cabbage, sprouts, roast potatoes and parsnips, other veg.
Any ideas appreciated!
Thanks

Hello – I'm in the same boat for the first vegan Christmas!
Things I have been pondering:

  1. Just some really good sausages; they go well with a roast! I quite like some of the fancier Linda McCartney ones, and my DH makes a lovely tomato and kidney bean sausage.
  2. These veg roasty things which are very tasty and make a great dinner, but not sure if they're special enough.
  3. Haggis wellington with frozen puff pastry around a veggie haggis, but never done this before so it's a bit risky
  4. Something with flat mushrooms?

    Mainly lurking for inspiration!

My mum used to make this fab chestnut stuffing which was more like the main event than a side so I often had it with just pots and veg. It was Merchant Gourmand chestnut puree mixed with crumbled veggie sausages (not sure which are vegan), finely chopped red onion, and maybe some chopped chestnuts too. Mix it all up then make into balls and bake for 30 mins or so. Really tasty.

Can you do vegan yorkshires?

I also had an amazing vegan gravy made with mushrooms (lots of varieties cooked in water for ages then the liquid was used with a bit of marmite and cornflour). I'm sure there are similar recipes online.

I Iike all the trimmings the best so will do skirlie as well as a sosmix and chestnut stuffing (mix vegan sausage mix as instructed on the packet, add chopped fried onions, chestnuts and any other flavourings you like, either roll into balls or cook in a pyrex bowl in the oven). I also sometimes buy v-bites celebration roast, but mainly for the sausages wrapped in bacon!

We like the vbites celebration roast, Turkey slices and pigs in blankets

I want to make a beet wellington for the main course. pinterest.com/pin/179440366384536527/?source_app=android
Served with roast potatoes, roast brussels, red cabbage, chestnut stuffing and gravy.
I'll probably do a vegan brownie for desert like this one m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2008342672711736&id=1795995010662381. Or maybe a vegan xmas pud.

Thanks everyone, some great ideas!
I do like all the trimmings just as much, but fancied trying something different.
I tried a festive cranberry nut roast thing from Tesco, but was a bit underwhelmed.

The Linda McCartney nut loaf thing (in Tesco) is excellent

I normally hate nut loaf but Deliciously Ella has a recipe for an apricot and sage one which is wonderful.

Do you mean the Linda McCartney ‘beef’ roast?

I think i am going to use the Linda McCartney 'Beef' roast as a base for a Wellington. The sauce that surrounds it is really lovely.

I like the Fry's country roast best, so will probably get one of those. Would like to make chestnut stuffing & we have Christmas pudding, mince pies & alpro cream/custard for dessert.

Will get various cheeses for a little cheese board in the evening. Favourites are the smoked cheese & the WensleyDale with cranberries from Tesco.

Congrats on having your first vegan Christmas, hope it’s a great one! So exciting.

I get the celebration roast from Holland and Barrett usually, also do a cheese board with nutcrafter nut cheese (don’t knock vegan cheese til you’ve tried it!) ritz crackers, Cornish wafers, cream crackers and oatcakes. I make a trifle (jelly crystals from Holland and Barrett, Home made sponge for base, alpro soya custard and coconut cream, obviously fruit and alcohol!) my DH makes chocolate cake. Nice treats are dark chocolate marzipan from lidl, dark chocolate lebekuchen from Aldi, free from chocolate boxes from Asda and Tesco, Elizabeth shaw mint crisps, some shop brand after eights. Apparently there are recipes about for vegan Yorkshire puddings too.

Oh and I use bisto gravy.
