many questions - mycoprotein, dahl, beans

hi all
I have looked around but always good to get views.

I was wondering, is anyone finding themselves eating mycoprotein (linda mc) nearly every day? i seem to have a taste for it and i can imagine that will be even more in the winter, but it doesn't strike me as a good thing to eat nearly daily or every other day, bit high in salt? That said I never add salt to food!

Also - dahl recipes. Due to my mum's background, I lived on spicy dahl and hated it tbh. Is there such a thing as a non spicy dahl? I was thinking I love the Merchant Gourmet tomato or mushroom lentils but there's not much point making anything else out of them? What do you eat with that sort of thing?

Beans - not a huge fan but realising I need to add some to salads especially if I have to do a workout after. What's the least hassly bean to add to a salad, ideally open a tin of...? Presumably they will just take on the taste of the dressing?

Beans are another thing I haven't bothered with because I just think of baked beans from childhood.

thanks for any quick and easy ideas! (not a cooking fan, also debating ditching the slow cooker now there's no meat being cooked).

I rarely eat 'meat replacements'. I don't think they are that great all the time...usually highly processed soya (I'm not anti soya generally). And there are much nicer things to eat TBH. I don't know about salt.

I eat quite a lot of tofu rather than the fake meat.

I have a Madhur Jaffrey World Vegetarian book and that has lots of dahls that are not spicy, and also other lentil recipes that are dahl like but not dahls and not spicy! I'd highly recommend trying to get it out of the library or something. There is a lentil spaghetti sauce recipe on mumsnet which is easy and good, and you can put it in lasagne too.

Chickpeas are the least hassly and most pleasant thing for a salad (in my opinion), though kidney beans are quite good too, especially if you've got some avocado in your salad. Pinto beans I seem to remember are ok too (again, avocado helps).

Thanks I'll look at the book
I really like the Linda mc stuff and because I find cooking dull it's become a go to.
