Not relishing my trip there so want to find lots of things to do outside the fences - any tips?

Depends what kind of thing you like doing, but the obvious one, is the Major Oak and forest area in Edwinstowe.

Sounds good - i've never been to the area before, so have no idea on local tourist spots.

Gosh CP's at SF is brilliant lots and lots to do - tree walking, swimming, golf , tennis, I could go on and on.

Outside is Sherwood Forest of course, Clumber Park and Rufford Park is across the road. Nottingham Castle, Ice skating at the Arena, Alton Towers, Derbyshire Dales on your doorstep. Rutland Water, Carsington Water

Im intrigued as to why book CP's when you want to get out!!!!

Clumber park is good.

Depending upon the ages of any DCs, they'd enjoy White post farm which is pretty good. Don't go to wheelgate park which is opposite!

Chatsworth isn't a million miles away. Really good day out. The farm and adventure layground are a great hit with my DDs
