Have a look at Seattle, which is by the Marina (so a good 10-15 minute walk into the cenre of Brighton). Stayed there pre-DC, but it struck as as very family-friendly at the time. Looks a bit meh from the outside, but it is really lovely inside.

We stayed at Jury's Inn in Brighton a couple of weeks back. It was lovely. No complaints at all. check out Trip Advisor and see what you can find.

stayed at seattle with DC & would highly recommend it (we had it on a deal though so not sure what normal prices would be like, might be a bit expensive), and you can get buses into town.
Have also stayed at Jurys, it's fine, nothing special, but fine.

am torn now, still have time to cancel jurys inn and book seattle.Difference in price for a 2 night break is £125 but seattle gives you £60 in restaurant. How regular are buses from seattle and how long does it take?
is it noisy at night at jurys inn?(hen and stag nights etc)
Is there anything to do around the marina?(not expecting big entertainment, just a pleasant stroll and a drink with dcs in the evening?)
Its only a 2 night break but it is the only hol we will be having as a family this year so i want it to be nice and a bit special.advice is much appreciated.

Hi Frazzled!

There are buses at the marina to and from town, not sure of their frequency, but there are certainly plenty. Or it's a nice stroll on a good day (and if you come in the summer you can take the Volks Railway to the pier and back. If you stop off half way there is a stop for the Peter Pans playground which is good for children. Specially in summer when they have the water sprayer things working. In winter you can get a good cup of coffee and an icecream and there are reasonable loos too.

At the marina there is a Cineworld cinema, McDonalds, a casino, Pizza Hut, mini trampolines and baby go karts. Also there is a nice boardwalk along from the Seattle where there are more restaurants such as Cafe Rouge, Frankie & Bennys, Zizzis etc. There is a nightclub and a bar.

There is also a huge Asda (should you require a supermarket during your stay) and their petrol station is usually the cheapest in town.

Forgot to mention, also some factory outlet type shops and a fish & chip restaurant there too. There can be quite a nice vibe there when it's busy, but can be quite quiet off-peak. I don't know the Jury's Inn though, so I don't want to sway your choice. It might be better for all I know!

Hope you have a nice time, when're you coming down?

Oh, am quite jealous now - I was looking at Seattle's website again after I linked to it on here and now have a hankering to go back again! There are plenty of nice strolls to be done around there & lots of nice restaurants (v good Chinese iirc) & bars. The hotel itself has a real chilled out atmosphere.

Have to say I stayed at a Jurys Inn in Exeter a couple of months ago & really wasn't terribly impressed - it's like they have downgraded their brand over the last few years and the hotel was only have a step up from a Travelodge. Of course the Brighton one is probably differemt.
