Hotel in southwest for 10th anniversary?

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations of a really nice hotel to stay for a couple of nights for our 10th anniversary. But this falls just before our week's holiday in south Cornwall (St Austell) so would ideally like to use these two nights as a break in the journey on the way there. And obviously it means ds will be with us, so rooms need to accommodate him and would like a hotel that provides reliable babysitting.

Anywhere between Bristol and St Austell would work. Suggestions?

Ooh thanks, am checking the links. Gidleigh Park looks really good and I hadn't come across it searching previous threads. I've heard that Calcot is gorgeous, might be a bit close to home though.

Will look at the rest now!

Gidleigh Park looks like it's booked, how gutting, it looked spot-on!

I'm not sure to what extent some of the Mr and Mrs Smith child-friendly hotels are really - like Charlton House - the location looks great, place looks great, but it does look very adult. I don't want ds to be an inconvenience!

Burgh Island hotel near Bigbury in south Devon-lovely art deco hotel.

Babington booked out, Bovey Castle booked out - is there some big posh Devon/Somerset shindig going on or something?! This is midweek in May!

Burgh Island is lovely, we went there when I was pregnant with ds, but I don't think young children are allowed.

Am now looking at smaller places - Upper Westcott Farm was on Mr & Mrs Smith - but we would have to share our anniversary dinner with any other guests. It shouldn't be this hard!

There are some lovely places close to St Austells, which we might have to plump for, but I'd rather somewhere en-route ideally.

The Bull in Bridport?
I've always wanted to go there and they are child friendly.

Ooh, I like the look of The Bull, thanks for that - they seem very flexible about accommodating children in rooms.

I was starting to lose the will to live!
