East Anglia/South East for a weekend, without children, where would you go?

And why?

And what would you do there?

I repeat, without children.

No sexual details please, what would you do outside the hotel room

I'd probably say Cambridge.

Some really lovely places to wanedr round, good shopping, some nice hotels, nice places to eat & there's a lovely pub on a big green with a canal where boats punt on & you can take your beer outside & clap & laugh when someone falls in sit in the sun

If the weather's fine and you go to North Norfolk, there's a beach at Winterton on Sea where you can

a. See seals frolicking the waves
b. Swim in clean water
c. Shag in the sand-dunes about a mile left of the car park, as trippers never get that far

Gah. Frolic in the waves. I don't know how you would frolick a wave and so I told the judge...

From there it's an easy short drive to the fantastic hotel at Holkham (about a zillion stars for food) who's name escapes me. But do a search for Highgate on sea or similar and it should come up

Southwold & I would eat & window shop & wander

DH would sit in the cottage watching the sport

I would go to Wells or Blakeney, somewhere like that. Assuming you like hearty coastal walk.

Stay there every year for the last 8 yrs (sometimes 2 or 3 times)

We love it - we stay in a cottage just down from where the brewery horses used to be stabled

London! Lots of lovely walks, theatre, art galleries, decent restaurants, pubs. Late nights in lovely bars, then a stagger back to a hotel.

You can do countryside/beach with children. Culture, fine food and late nights are more difficult with them in tow.

wonderingwondering - proper beach shagging is impossible with children in tow...

No, no, no - it has to be North Norfolk. Look at Wells - how can you resist?
