And why?

And what would you do there?

I repeat, without children.

No sexual details please, what would you do outside the hotel room grin

I'd probably say Cambridge.

Some really lovely places to wanedr round, good shopping, some nice hotels, nice places to eat & there's a lovely pub on a big green with a canal where boats punt on & you can take your beer outside & clap --&-- laugh when someone falls in sit in the sun grin

If the weather's fine and you go to North Norfolk, there's a beach at Winterton on Sea where you can

a. See seals frolicking the waves
b. Swim in clean water
c. Shag in the sand-dunes about a mile left of the car park, as trippers never get that far grin

NormaSknockers Sun 09-Aug-09 19:23:11

Ooopss sorry about the spelling etc, that'll teach me to hit post instead of preview!!

TrillianAstra Sun 09-Aug-09 19:24:51

Oops, forgot big diclaimer: I live in Cambridge. blush

Seals sound cool PerArdua - would you stay there overnight or go somewhere else?

PerArduaAdNauseum Sun 09-Aug-09 19:25:15

Gah. Frolic in the waves. I don't know how you would frolick a wave and so I told the judge...

PerArduaAdNauseum Sun 09-Aug-09 19:27:11

From there it's an easy short drive to the fantastic hotel at Holkham (about a zillion stars for food) who's name escapes me. But do a search for Highgate on sea or similar and it should come up grin

TrillianAstra Sun 09-Aug-09 19:27:17

Was it this one Shiney?

PerArduaAdNauseum Sun 09-Aug-09 19:27:46

Don't go to Titchwell.

Katymac Sun 09-Aug-09 19:28:52

Southwold & I would eat & window shop & wander

DH would sit in the cottage watching the sport hmm

Hassled Sun 09-Aug-09 19:29:34

I would go to Wells or Blakeney, somewhere like that. Assuming you like hearty coastal walk.

PerArduaAdNauseum Sun 09-Aug-09 19:30:21

Wow, is Oxfordshire in the South East now? shock

NormaSknockers Sun 09-Aug-09 19:31:10

PMSL you won't want to go there then grin

Norwich? Dedham is lovely too!

TrillianAstra Sun 09-Aug-09 19:33:54

Katymac have you ever stayed in Southwold? Adnams Brewery is there...

Dior Sun 09-Aug-09 19:35:37

Dedham (stay in Colchester)
Wells-next-the-Sea
Southwold
Aldeburgh

Katymac Sun 09-Aug-09 19:36:57

Stay there every year for the last 8 yrs (sometimes 2 or 3 times)

We love it - we stay in a cottage just down from where the brewery horses used to be stabled

anonandlikeit Sun 09-Aug-09 19:38:45

Soutjwold, Aldeburgh, both have fantastic places to eat.
Walberswick

Suffolk coast is nice & the people are lovely grin

anonandlikeit Sun 09-Aug-09 19:39:35

We are lovely but can't spell, Southwold

PerArduaAdNauseum Sun 09-Aug-09 19:41:35

Oh well, Suffolk if you want your coast tame... wink

wonderingwondering Sun 09-Aug-09 19:45:00

London! Lots of lovely walks, theatre, art galleries, decent restaurants, pubs. Late nights in lovely bars, then a stagger back to a hotel.

You can do countryside/beach with children. Culture, fine food and late nights are more difficult with them in tow.

Goober Sun 09-Aug-09 19:45:50

I live in Suffolk!!

PerArduaAdNauseum Sun 09-Aug-09 19:47:34

<whispers> I live in Norfolk

PerArduaAdNauseum Sun 09-Aug-09 19:48:35

wonderingwondering - proper beach shagging is impossible with children in tow...

Hassled Sun 09-Aug-09 19:48:41

No, no, no - it has to be North Norfolk. Look at Wells - how can you resist?
