Hi
Staying near Richmond for the weekend with a three and half year old. Our only holiday this year. We want to have a fantastic two days. Please help us with recommendations of where to go, what to see, where to eat, little local gems of info

Thanks!

I really like Richmond, there is a nice market there on a Saturday.

have a look here

When we go (live about 45 mins away) we tend to just eat something snacky from the bakery so can't recommend anything in particular

Erm, I've been a bit crap on this thread so i'll leave...enjoy your weekend

Probably a bit late but can recommend the Forbidden Corner near Middleham - been loads of times and my children absolutely love it as do we. Bit difficult to describe it but its all your childhood fantasies (think Alice/Narnia/Enchanted Tree) rolled into one!

If not too late...

Ice cream in The Station

Walk down the river in either direction - play at the river's edge. We walked to Easby Abbey and played fab hide and seek game there.

Definitely The Station. It's great. Ice cream. Brewery. Cheese. You might even get to see the new Harry Potter. stationcinema.com.

The castle's always good if you haven't been there before.

Restaurants: the Station (again), la Piazza or New Treasure Garden in the square, or if you really want to push the boat out, the Frenchgate Hotel (although maybe not great with a 3yo).

Sip on King's Road (going into Market Place) does great panini if you're looking for lunch.

Art shops on Finkle Street are nice. And there's a new cheap-ish French place called La Rustique which has recently opened. Haven't been there but is apparently very nice.

Further afield is Wensleydale Railway, chocolate factory at Leyburn. HTH!
