London Eye ticket confusion! Advice needed

Looking to book tickets for the london eye for a busy weekend in the summer. Want to fastrack but I notice that 'standard' tickets still give you a set time and you only have to queue for 30 minutes. Is this correct? With fastrack you still have to get there 15 minutes before so what is the difference? Or is a standard ticket time just a 'guide' and you still have to join the queue?

With the pre-booked standard ticket you have to collect your ticket from the machine and join the boarding queue. With a fast track ticket, IIRC there was a separate entrance so you jump the queue?

We went on it back in London and ummed and ahhed about getting the FT ones, but I'm glad we didn't TBH. The boarding queue looked horrendous but moved very quickly: think it was about 20 mins max from collecting tickets to boarding (and this was a Sunday during school holidays, so "peak time").

The queues to actually buy tickets there were pretty bad though, so I would definitely pre-book rather than just turning up!

The time on your ticket is the time you can join the queue. Fasttrack = no queue, standard sometimes no queue, sometimes 30 minutes so often fasttrack offers little or no benefit.

Book your tickets week in advance get them posted and you won't have to collect them and got through that hassle.
