edinburgh with a toddler....need some idea!!!!

planning to book a one night trip to edinburgh with my dd 16monts and dh. have no idea where to stay and what to see. cud anybody pls help with some budget hotels and places to see with my dd ????? travelling from north west any ideas which is the cheapest way to travel?? howz the place and howz the weather? cud anybody pls give me some ideas....

I would come up by train and try and get a room in student halls - the Edinburgh and Napier University ones are very central and nice (and Cheap). There is an ibis hotel in grassmarket which would be cheap and central too.

There are lots of things to do with a todder: botanics, princes st gardens, the museum at chambers street,

open top bus tours are great just hop on and off all day which is great with a toddler as some of the roads are quite steep have a lot of steps or are cobbly , check lastminute.com for cheap hotels b and b etc.. there are lots of b and bs on the outskirts of edinburgh on the bus routes which are cheaper... museum of childhood is great and there is always edinburgh zoo the weather is just typical british weather you could take the train to north berwick which is a nice wee seaside resort close to edinburgh..hope you have a fab time
