I picked up on this thread whilst looking for something else. I had the misfortune to grow up close to one or two of the places listed and will continue having to visit relatives who still live there - usually for a day or two due to distance. So for those of us who have already booked at one of these dubious destinations or have to go there because they are visiting at Easter or in May half term. Any suggestions to entertain the children?

I'm disappointed no one has tested out my link ....surely someone has been to Redcar, Skegness, Morecambe, Southend, Rhyl etc and survived or may be they are too traumatised to recollect their experiences

Just read through that thread. I had the misfortune to grow up in Colwyn Bay. My mum and dad moved us there in 1980 as they didn't want us to grow up in Birmingham . I moved out to Chester (nice and posh) at 19 and now live in Manchester, my sister moved to uni and my mum and dad moved to France last year. There are some lovely parts in North Wales- Llandudno is ok. Just avoid Rhyl and Prestatyn at all costs.

Agree with Suwoo- llandudno still appears to have the charm of a victorian seaside town (not massively so, but as a resort, I like it)
Deganwy (inbetween Llandudno and Conwy) is also nice area and has had a fair amount of redevelopment work on it since I holidayed there as a child.

There are no redeeming features of Rhyl or Prestatyn im afraid, they truly are as close to hell as you possibly can get. I have vivid memories of crossing a traintrack to get to the beach.
