Coast from Grimsby to Skegness..best place to holiday?

We don't know this coastline at all...and are in Lincoln over April. Thinking we might try and explore this area. Looks like a good long stretch of beach. What's it like? Where are the nicest places? We have a 8 year old DD and 3 yrold DD.

Much of it is carava site after caravan site, so not particularly nice. Sutton on Sea is probably the nicest resort. I have memories of Donna Nook (I think it is a bird reserve now) from childhood - dunes and sands with tide going out miles (and back in very quickly).

If you want nice, quiet beaches with no facilities then Worra Bank and Mogs Eye are nice.

There is Gibraltar Point at the far end of Skegness which is a great Nature Reserve with a visitors centre and occasionally open days aimed at children. I'd avoid Skegness itself and the beach along there.....

Snipe Dales Nature Reserve and Country Park are separate areas but great for country walks of varying length. These are on the road between Lincoln and Skegness.

Wolla Bank/Mogs Eye/Chapel Six Marsh all along the same stretch of winding coastal road and quite beautiful (popular with dog walkers)

Sutton On Sea as recommended by lilymaid is a quiet and nice resort (it's a large village really) and is just down the road from Mablethorpe

We LOVE Skegness

Nearby Ingoldmells in good too, about 3 miles up the coast

Fantasy Island (below) has great entertainment, specially early evening for young children. The website is woefully out of date though

I should point out that when i say i'd avoid Skegness i am biased by the fact that i lived there for 7 years and have always lived close and visited a lot. Loses it's appeal a bit when you've been a resident!

There is Natureland in Skegness which is good for kids, especially if you time it right and see the seals being fed.

The play facilites in the park in town are not much to be honest but there is indoor soft play at Panda's Palace, The Suncastle Pub (family friendly), and in The Pier Arcade which also has ten-pin bowling.

Rand Farm Park is not far from Lincoln. Lots of animals to look at, there are time during the day when the children can handle the rabbits/guinea pigs etc. Large outdoor play area and brilliant indoor soft play, with a cafe. I do think it's a bit expensive (currently £6.50 each) but then my ds isn't interested in the animals....he just wants to head straight to soft play!
