Is anyone familiar with PEMBROKESHIRE, specifically the Fishguard area?

We're staying with family in Fishguard for a few days next week and wondered if anyone could recommend anything nice to do locally, eg nice walks or areas, or any places of interest (DD is 10 btw)

(the couple we're staying with are young with no children so their places of interest are the pub, the pub and the pub)

Any tips appreciated, thanks

The Gwaun Valley is very beautiful with lovely walks
and yes, I know it's a pub, but there is an amazing pub called Bessies - really old and mad - basically one room and then another which the old lady who runs it lives in. We went in and she was feeding a lamb in her room!

It's a bit of a drive but if wet then folly farm is good.

There are loads of castles to visit, all we've been too have been worth visiting. Lots of fab beach walks if not raining too hard! Could finish in the pub!

There is a gorgeous art gallery/sculpture garden just outside Manorowen called Workshop Wales Gallery. The only thing is it is run by the family of the artist John Cleal (I'm a big fan), and he died fairly recently, so I'm not sure if the Gallery is fully open at the moment. You could try calling them because it is well worth a visit (if you like arty stuff anyway).

St Davids is very pretty, but tiny. You can hire bikes and explore the contryside here. Also recommended is a visit to the lifeboat launch, and you can get motorboat trips out to Ramsey Island to see seals and sea-birds (though maybe not at this time of year). Also a very pretty village to visit is Porthgain, and there are gorgeous walks along the headlands from there in both directions (though be wary of the cliff edge). The beaches and coves along there are gorgeous, and most can't be reached by car.

Thanks for all your super tips, we've just got back and had a lovely time, it's so beautiful down there.

Luckily we had some dry (if windy!) days and enjoyed trips to St Davids, Newgale beach and a look round Fishguard, Haverfordwest & Cardigan. We actually stayed just round the corner from the Workshop Wales Gallery but it wasn't open on the day we went.
