I'll ask dh what it's like when he comes in for dinner, he grew up here and might know more about it than me. Will post later if he has more info

Do you mean Haggerston Castle?

If you do, we hated it. Sorry. I found it tacky and expensive. You have to go through the amusement arcade to get to the playpark/swimming pool. Ok, if you are good at resisting, "Mummy, want a go on that".

The pool was nothing special. We did not go to the restaurants.

Saying that, I have friends who have been several times and loved it so maybe it was just us. We went with Tesco vouchers so it was reasonably priced, I would have been annoyed if I had paid full price.

The area itself is great. Great beaches, we were at Bamburgh. The castle there is nice too.

A great place to go, though very expensive is Alnwick Castle and Gardens. (Hogwarts in the films) Take a picnic and spend the whole day there. Great for DCs.

The Honey Farm is great too.

How old are your DCs?

I would go again to the area.

You cannot access the beach from the park, btw. It is a bit inland.

Oops, sorry. Then disregard the stuff about the park. I did not realise that there were 2 Haven parks so close.

But the area is still fab

Yeah there's one nearer to the sea, in Berwick although I'm a bit confused as to which the op is going to now too!

Oh right, well dh says the one you are thinking of going to seems nice, he hasn't stayed there himself but has delivered things there as part of his job and says there is a posh spa bit or something like that and that the restaurant bit looks really nice.
He said it's very popular, doesn't know much more than that though, sorry.
One more thing is, if you come to Berwick it's only about 45mins-1hr on the train to Edinburgh and the shops there are lovely . Hope you manage to decide on where you want to go and have a nice holiday.

Have been. It is a lovely area. Park can be very lively/rowdy in August. Quite a few groups youths drinking etc. Police did 2 blue light runs to the park while we were there. Hard to get a seat in the entertainment late at night. Funstars try and sell stuff constantly to the kids. 'go ask your mum to buy one of these t shirts like ours in the shop over there,' etc and coming round with light up dummies. The beach is nice but there was glass and bottles on the way down. Lots of these things happen everywhere of course. We had a good holiday but used it more as a base than anything.

thanks. we're going in september so hope it isn't as rowdy?
Edinburgh is my favourite city so no doubt we'll pop there
