Isle of Wight recommendations

We have a week's holiday booked on the Isle of Wight. We've got some leaflets and brochures and there seem to be tons of things to do. Does anyone have any top recommendations? DSs are 4 and 5. The only other thing is that DH isn't very mobile at the moment and will need to use a wheelchair for anything longer than a ten minute walk so are there any places that are no-go areas?

BLACKGANG CHINE although it is on a hill but with paths

ROBIN HILL also on a hill but you can get a deal to go back for FREE

DS loves them both

BUT loads of seats so if he can walk and then rest then ok

the steam railway is goodaccess details here (click on timetables & fares and scroll down)

Ryde has a good promenade, but the main shopping street is a steep hill.

googled and found this, which might be useful? (takes a while to download)

Do not go to Blackgang Chine if your DH is in a wheelchair. It is extremely hilly!

Ventnor pretty but shingly beach. Sandown and Shanklin beach much nicer. Shanklin beach dissapears at high tide though, wherewas some of Sandown one remains.

We went to the bird place (Fmamingo World??) last year - the 2.5 and 7 year old loved that - you even get a chance to feed the penguins.
