we have tried haven, butlins and pontins but they were all a bit chavvy for me. sorry i know people don't like that word but i don't know how else to describe it.

we went to a park resort last summer, one of the ones in the yorkshire area and it was ok, we didn't go at the busiest time, so perhaps that made a difference, and dc's were young so we didn't hang about for the entertainments in the evening much.

I suppose its what you make of it, really.

we haven't done any others, like butlins and the like, to compare.

We went to Twitchen Park at Morthoe last year. It's fairly quiet, although there is some chavvy entertainment, I think

There's a lovely walk down to Combesgate Beach and you're approx. half a mile from the main Woolacombe beach.

i've been to the one @ camber and it's fabulous.

good facilities and entertainment, pool, restaurant and bar etc.

IMO it's upmarket butlins/pontins but the formula of family entertainment is the same. they just do it better and in a much cleaner environment.

i've done butlins and it was filthy and horrible. kids loved it tho!

a MN friend of mine has her own van there. i'll send her over!

I was told By MrsR that of you go somewhere like Camber - hire a van privately from an owner they tend to be in a nicer quieter part of the site.

They are fine. Entertainment is cheesy but you don't have to venture near it. Pools are usually OK. Several on the Isle of Wight - we've been to Nodes Point a couple of times, it's a good location, right on the beach.
