if you are going in the holidays you could ask if one of the Colleges has accommodation? Tourist office might know??

Arundel, and there is a sister hotel but name escapes me, 10 min walk over the common or Jesus Green

ButterflyBessie Tue 10-Jun-08 15:55:16

just googled it and it is the Ashley

tmmj try some of the other colleges? Some of the more modern accommodation blocks are v nice. DH's room in his first year was mahoosive, plenty of room for a football team to sleep in on the floor if need be, and it had a big ensuite as well.

Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not the Ashley, please God. Honestly, it's faulty towers redux there (or so my PIL tell me)

Arundel is OK: great location and quite comfy, but a bit 80s. Still it probably represents good value for money for a family.

The other option is the Regent Hotel which has just been rebuilt after a fire 2 years ago, so should be pretty smart.

University Arms is also (apparently) pretty shabby, but I've never set foot in the place so that's just hearsay. I'll go and have a look for you if you want grin

<Hopeful>

There's a new Hotel Du Vin.....

THere's one of those Premier Inns Lenny Henry advertises...Family rooms. Like a Travelodge I gather...Clean, basic. For sleeping only really.

Crowne Plaza v.central and v. corporate. Where's your wedding, MMJ?

flowerybeanbag Tue 10-Jun-08 17:07:55

Crowne Plaza v near centre, ideal.

Arundel is closer to Magdelene than the Crowne Plaza, but we're talkinga about a 10 minute walk vs a 15 minute walk, so hardly big decision.

Hotel du Vin.....

Fusspot grinwink

What about Hotel Felix, it is up the Huntingdon Road, probably not central enough, you could always cab/bus/bike it
