How likely is a Uk half term holiday?

Booked a year ago for a week away in a house through holiday letting company. We are in a medium area and travelling to a medium area. One household keeping ourselves to ourselves. Walking, driving and just generally switching off. We won’t visit any tourist attractions. Happy to cook or have takeaways for dinner if necessary. Really hoping the circuit breaker doesn’t come into effect. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Same here! We’re leaving this weekend, and staying in a Travelodge enroute in a Tier 2 area but worried it might shift into Tier 3 before then. And what if the circuit breaker comes into effect whilst we are still on holiday?

Is too. We're in a tier 1 area travelling to tier 2 .... but very rural with a very low rate of cases. It's our usual autumn half term haunt and it's been booked a year. We don't see a soul while we're there and that's the point. I really hope we can go ...

I suspect as long as you are staying in England and not trying to cross into Wales or Scotland you will be fine. If the government stopped everybody having their half term breaks they would have to fund the refunds.

I'm due to go to Scotland from England. As far as I can see there is nothing currently preventing this.

No nothing at the moment (apart from travel restrictions in and out of Welsh lockdown areas) but I think the devolved governments are trying to stop people travelling to them from the worst effected areas.

Same medium to medium area a week in a remote ish area just a change of scenery. Hoping no lockdown before half term!

Yup, travelling from medium to medium and we're keeping everything crossed. It's a caravan park but we are planning on fully self-catering anyway, DS too old for kids clubs, not bothered by entertainment. Just want to wander along the beach & nearby nature reserve to switch off from work and school.

I get the reasons behind a circuit breaker but it'll be hard to swallow when my area and where we're going have very low rates

Depends where in Scotland @CeeceeBloomingdale some areas the advise is not to travel to or from.

Fingers crossed then we all get to go away. This is our usual Oct break hence why it’s been booked for a year. Plenty of walks and fresh air. But no rushing to get up and happy to have time in the holiday home too. For us it’s a holiday with the dog. We have older teens in important secondary years so they will take work with them too. Just a lovely change of scenery, pleasing ourselves, seeing no one. But best of all no cooking ands no washing and ironing! So hope we get this break it’s going to be a long old winter and this week does wonders to perk us up before winter sets in.

Did the govt fund any refunds for the May half term, or Easter?! Some people got their money back, some didn’t. Didn’t it just depend on insurance?

We were due to fly to the highlands and then go to a SC flat there for the week. Was originally going to the Caribbean and that was cancelled, we changed to highlands to,do the NC500, then due to the Scotland rules recently we changed to one sc base instead. However I received a positive COVID swab today so although I should be clear by then dh will still be having to SI for the first couple of days. So have cancelled the flat today and now need to try and claim the flight back on our insurance.

Depending on what happens re dh and/or,possible lockdown we may try and have a few days away somewhere towards the end of the week, but won't book til last minute now.

Any lockdowns currently mooted (Liverpool, Northern Ireland) do not forbid you by law to travel.

Wales isn’t going to let you in. I suspect north wales doesn’t want the local north west people visiting, so they can close their borders.

I think that probably suits them 😄

Commiserations @Aragog.
That's some bad luck you've had there - hope you do manage to safely get away at some point.
We're due to leave home tomorrow (tier 2) to go to Scotland (not to anywhere near the forbidden zones).
Also just want to look out of a different window for a short spell and gaze upon a different view.
Our world has become very, very small.😥😥

Thanks.

Hopefully my recovery will be fine and Dh will stay clear, and there's no national lockdown, and we can get away.

We'd have loved to get away. Getting Covid is just the last in such a long list of rubbish-ness we've had in 2020z

But it is what it is I guess abd we will make the most of what we get now.
