Looking for a special place for my DH and I and our dog for a long weekend next month. Dog friendly, log fire, nice rooms. Not too big.

Would prefer village/town with good walks nearby.

Don’t mind spending for the right place as we get away so infrequently.

Thank you!

Matfen Hall. Beatiful grounds, close to beautiful village, lovely restaurant and spa and some dog friendly rooms.

The Feathers at Helmsley is lovely.

If you can consider a little further afield Beck Hall at Malham near Skipton is very dog friendly and there's some stunning walks on the doorstep.

If you go to Matfen pop into Hexham and The Heart of Northumberland, a lovely dog-friendly pub with great food.

The William de Percy in Otterburn - I'm sure they allow pets to stay and the pub/restaurant is definitely dog friendly and the food is fab! It's a lovely village for walks and you're not far from Kielder for bigger walks

The Joiner's Arms in Newton by the Sea - not sure if dogs are allowed to stay but it is owned by the same people who have the above, so pub/food is great and. It's right on the Northumberland coastline

The Pheasant Inn at Kielder, Northumberland. AMAZING place, we went there the beginning of the month-beautiful place and food was fantastic.

Agree about The Pheasant Inn, great food. Some great walks and bike rides at Keilder.

Lots of lovely places thank you! Annoyingly quite a few booked up as we’re quite last minute.

I’ll check them all later.

Thank you 🙏😊

Blanchland - it's near the Durham border but The Lord Crewe Arms (I think) is always recommended. Very fine looking.

The Pheasant at Harome. The restaurant's very good, and there are some great walks - Rievaulx to Helmsley is lovely. We've stayed at the Feversham in Helmsley as well. IMO The Pheasant is nicer, but The Feversham is right on the main square in Helmsley so might suit you better if you want to be right in town. At the Pheasant our room had a log fire, as well as the one in the bar.

White Swan in Pickering
Not been here but looks like it will tick your boxes, and seems to have availability for weekends in February.
