Cornwall for October half term

Hi - I'm looking to book a cottage in Cornwall for half term. Husband likes to surf so we'd like to be near a beach but doesn't have to be Newquay. We'd rather be in a quiet location. We're from the North East and have never been to Cornwall before and wondered if anyone had any recommendations of areas to stay.

Thanks in advance Smile

Bude has several excellent beaches. To the north there’s Sandymouth, a mile of sand enjoying excellent surf. It’s more usable at low to mid tide. You also have Crooklets, a west facing beach with consistently surfable waves, but best avoided at high water.

West of Newquay, Perranporth is lovely. The beach picks up plenty of swell, so usually has waves big enough to surf. As the tide drops, Perran Sands, a long stretch of beach to the east opens up, giving more options to those seeking a quieter surf. There are plenty of surf schools including Perranporth Surf School, Watering Hole and Ticket to Ride.

When we visit cornwall we stay HERE great countryside location but not far from the sea. best surfing beach is at Polzeath imo. Its worth checking which beaches will have lifeguards on as some of them might not as its oct.

Hendra holiday park is just outside of Newquay. It's lovely.

Also have you tried looking at Perranporth? Amazing beach. Lots of surfing. About 20 mins from Newquay. Pub on beach called The Watering Hole. It's great!

How about staying in a holiday park in the outskirts of Newquay? So you can enjoy the peace but be close to the actual town. To be honest Newquay isn’t insanely busy in October half term anyway.

Failing that, how about the Padstow or Wadebridge area? Polzeath is lovely too and great surfing.
