Hi I’ll be staying at the caravan park at the end of August with my two children, aged 4 and 6, and was just wondering if anyone had ideas of nearby things to do please?!

So far I’ve found The Beatrix Potter Museum and potentially South Lakes Zoo. I know there’s lake Windermere etc but I’m very aware of how busy it may be and I’m a nervous driver/parker haha.

Thank you!

We loved Fell Foot park. Spent most of our time in the playground. Kids had a ball.

Ah such memories!
We had a caravan there when I was growing up.

I remember the pool, park, shop and clubhouse. Standard things at a caravan park I suppose but that place holds such a special place in my heart!

I can almost smell it I remember it so vividly.

Sizergh is worth a visit. Instead of worrying about parking in Windermere, park at the haverthwaite train station and get the steam train/boat cruise deal.

Ive stayed there. Ive never left the site during the time though. There is a lake you can hire a canoe or pedalo. You can hire a family bike. Theres a swimming pool, outdoor as well as indoor. 2 Playgrounds. Activities programme for children. Children’s entertainment.

The site itself has plenty to do so don't over plan.
From Newby Bridge (an easy drive from the site) there's the steam train which you can get to connect to Lakeside and jump on a boat from there.
Cartmel and Grange over Sands are your nearest towns and are both nice for a wander with play areas, tea rooms, gifts shops and the promenade at Grange.
Locally there's a few farm parks and also a maize maze.

Ooh we stayed here a few weeks ago. Head to Wray castle!? Hire a boat and go out on Lake Windermere?! Walk up round Ambleside / Bowness. There's a steam train to Lakside where you can catch the boat up the lake. There's a miniature village near Haven. Brockhole has a big free adventure playground and treetop nets !!

I love the Lakes !!!!

Ahh amazing thank you so much! Just stumbled upon Wray castle and Brockhole, apparently there’s a round boat trip from Ambleside? Feeling more positive now haha.
