Hello everyone! I am looking for a hotel or guest house in Cornwall with these features:

  • Walking distance to beach
  • Quaint and preferably with a nice bar with open fire
  • Dog-friendly.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Isles of Scilly is also fabulous - New Inn on Tresco fits your bill.

Both look lovely! I shall contact them to see if they accept dogs. Thank you.

If you are going in the summer be aware most beaches don’t allow dogs on.

@WhenZogateSuperworm Do you mean there are certain times of the year when they DO let dogs on?

Watergate bay hotel is lovely and they take dogs. Dogs are allowed on the beach year round but as a pp said they will be banned from most of the main beaches in Cornwall during the summer.

They're usually allowed on between October and April. They're are some that allow them all year road, off the top of my head near me there's;
Par beach, st austell
Daymer bay, near wadebridge
Carne beach

Porthcurnick beach near Portscatho allows dogs all year, the Rosevine and Driftwood hotels are both walking distance. And you can walk to Carne and Pendower from there too.

I believe Polkerris beach allows dogs all year round. There's a lovely pub and a bar/restaurant that does amazing pizzas right on the beach, plus a good beach shop/cafe type place. There's no hotel in Polkerris but there are a few static caravans which appear quite nice. It's our favourite beach and you can walk to the beach/pub/restaurant from the static caravans. You're also quite near a decent road network for going elsewhere and you can get to Fowey really easily.

Also, Caerhays beach allows dogs all year round but there's no pub there. There is a nice beach cafe that does food and drink though and there are definitely holiday cottages in Caerhays. Caerhays is a country estate with a castle right down on the beach and I know a few of the estate cottages are run as holiday lets. Caerhays is a bit more remote though, I think for the amenities you're after Polkerris would be better.

Oh, and Polkerris is super quaint and there is a great coastal path walk perfect for dogs.

The dog beaches change each year - this is this year's list. It starts with the beaches where they're not allowed, but below is the dog friendly beaches. Hopefully it will help you narrow down an area. www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/dog-beach-ban-cornwall-summer-1319783
