Where to stay in Lake District? Any advice please?

Looking for a 'modern' cottage (nothing too dark) or some sort of apartment, somewhere quiet. 2 adults, 1 poss 2 older teens. First priority is somewhere with good hygiene rating as I've had enough dusty, spider and crumb infested cottages to last me a life time (also not good if one DC has eczema and hates spiders!).

A swimming pool nearby would be good too!

Thanks for any advice.

Whitbarrow Village. It has an indoor pool.

We've gone with our teens to Thanet well lodges several times. It is very quiet and not quaint, but handy for us just at the north end of the lakes. Handy for Keswick for a pool though we usually get a hot tub and there's a farm nearby that does brilliant activities.

Farm place is called Rookin house. The karting and clay pigeon shooting is good. Plus we've also done archery which was fun. We,be done other bits as well but we do the karting every time.

Monkhouse Hills cottages are gorgeous and includes a leisure pass to the North Lakes spa (lovely pool!). Abbots Reading Holiday cottages in the south lakes are reasonably priced, really modern and super clean, too.
