Any recommendations for which towns to visit/stay in North Wales / Snowdonia? We would like a family friendly caravan park

Depends what things you’re looking for. Beach? Town? Somewhere remote? There are so many places! Are you wanting to visit quite a few places whilst there or stay local to where you’re staying? How old are the children?

Many years ago when I was still a teenager, my family stayed at a place called "Ogwen Bank" in North Wales, not far from snowden. It was beautiful, a good base to explore the area from. We went to a different place every day.
This was when I still had my dad, and my mum was not quite as severely disabled as she is now, but those memories are from probably one of the best weeks of my life. It was stunningly beautiful.

We stayed in Bala when visiting the national park; we stayed in an Air B&B but am sure I saw some caravan sites so have a google. We walked Mount Snowdon (was an hours drive from Bala) but enjoyed the quietness of Bala, with their steam railway line and rural walks on offer. A lovely village. Also drove out to a country park maybe 40 minutes from Bala- I can't find the name in my albums frustratingly.

Ah Dancer it may just well have been. Lovely place with walks and trails and a lovely cafe. A really lovely day out, and it was raining, obviously, which seemed to make it all the more fun!

Just spent the weekend there! Can’t recommend a camping site as we stayed at the PYG but I recommend you drop in there for lunch/drink. Hilary used it as a UK training base so it has loads of Everest momentos and pictures. Pretty sure it hasn’t changed a jot since he first stayed there too.

Sorry should have clarified! The PYG hotel is about 5 mins drive from the base of Snowdon if ascending from the PYG or Miners track.

Going soon. Planning to visit Bala, Zipworld, beaches around Harlech area, and some hill walks. Avoiding the crowds on Snowdon, but only because we’ve done it a few times before.

Beddgelert is my favourite place in the world. It's beautiful with lots of walks, nice pubs and tea rooms and near Snowdon. If you have dc Greenwood's Adventure Park is good for a day out. Llanbedrog beach is my favourite but there are lots of lovely beaches. Portmeirion and Harlech Castle are worth a visit. We usually rent a cottage.

Posted too soon. We usually rent a cottage but there are plenty of caravan parks around the Beddegelert/Porthmadog area.

If you want pretty, more rural / remote places then definitely the ones mentioned above. Anglesey (the island) is lovely with lots of nice beaches, places to visit, plenty of caravan sites too. Llandudno is a larger town with lots of shops and restaurants, plus the beaches and touristy things.

www.aberdunant.com
centrally located, well regarded site between Porthmadog and Beddgelert. Close to most of the places listed above.
Greenacres is another option in nearby Morfa Bychan close to the beach but perhaps better for older children.

Ogwen Bank in Bethesda was a great caravan/camp site when I was there years ago. I really liked Machynlleth too which is further south near Aber. Dollgelau, Beddgelert, Llanberis, Betws-y-coed and Portmeirion were all good places to visit. There's loads to do and I really enjoyed the holidays there.

Bala is nice. More going on than I expected. Lots of places warning fairly easy reach. Bounce Below was fun.
