Northumberland Seahouses August

We are looking to book a week self catering in August. Extended family ranging from 91 to 12, struggling to find a suitable property.

Have found one in Seahouse but a friend thinks the area is a bit arcadey ( not even a word).

The alternative properties are in Beadnell.

Anyone know the area and have any thoughts?

Beadnell is gorgeous, the beach is stunning and quiet. We had a cottage with a gate onto the dunes and it was just amazing.

Seahouses wasn't a patch on it. Busier, but yes, a bit arcade-y.

I would go for Beadnell every time.

I love Beadnell. Went several times as a child. My dad and his friends would scuba round there.

Round our way the term used is “a bit Kiss Me Quick”

Love beadnell. A few art deco houses, several hairy surfers and miles of beach.

I mean chips and ice creams on every corner, busier crowds, gift and sweet shops, and yes, actual arcades.

Beadnell is a quiet village on the sea. One shop and a chippy only open a couple of evenings. Nice pub.

Seahouses does have a few arcades but also some fab fish and chips and a co-op and decent baker, both of which are handy for self catering.

Try Dunstanburgh or Craster.

True Pick, but given the choice as per OP I'd go for Beadnell every time. Others might find it too quiet.

You could walk between seahouses and beadnell and hardly break a sweat, though. Probably bog all in it with a car to hand.

You can always wander along the coast into Seahouses if you need anything.

I really liked the look of Alnwick but could not find a house for the dates we can do.

One of the places we also saw is in a place called Tughall Steads but not sure if there is any pub, restaurant or fish and chip shop within walking distance.

If we do find one in Bamburgh think we need one with parking by the sounds of it.

Really looking forward to the week, have been going cross eyed trying to find the right property!

Agree Craster, Dunstanburgh or Newton by the Sea are all lovely areas. The Joiners Arms is fantastic and does a fish & chip takeaway supper iirc. The food is delicious if you dine in and is dog friendly, The beaches are beautiful here too and a few minutes walk from the centre.

Thanks Cola, those look absolutely lovely but they don't have a large enough one for the week we are away, nor two combined available !

Ideally we need 5 bedrooms could do 4 as long as one of the rooms was twin.

It was also be fab if there was a bedroom or two on the ground floor.

Have been looking for so long today that they have merged into one in my mind!

We stayed here last summer and it was perfect for us. Plenty of space for 3 generations and walking distance to beach, fish and chips and co-op. Admittedly not the most picturesque street in the area but within short driving distance of lots of beautiful places, it worked brilliantly for a large group.

Its on the less sandy side of the point, but easy walk down to the beach at the bottom of the road.

Trinty - how funny that is one of the ones I am so tempted by.

I wish they had a bigger dinning room table some of the party would struggle to use the bench, also I'm not sure my mum would be happy in a bunk bed.

This is def in my top 3, looks amazing.

I haven't been in years, so can't comment on how "arcadey" it is now, but it definitely was. It was the go to day out as a kid & I've been back a few times since. The thing I remember most is that it was always colder & much windier than other places nearby, personally I wouldn't spend a holiday there with so many better places nearby
