London hotel advice, where is best to stay?

Calling all London experts.
My husband and I are planning a 3 night break to London in the summer and I have no clue where to stay.
We went last year and ended up near canary wharf, needed to take a hotel ferry and then a 10 minute walk to the nearest tube, it was a right ball ache, as the last ferry was at 11pm.
I want to be quite central, or if a bit further out, near a tube station.
Tia

Budget?

Budget is everything! On the cheap side, we've stayed at Premier Inns and been happy, and DH uses Hub by Premier Inn when on business, and they are low frills but central and a good price

We recently stayed in the Apex London Wall. It's a chain hotel but has a boutique-y feel to it. It's a 5 min walk to Bank or Monument tube stations and it's right near the Bank of England so it was nice and quiet at night (considering how central it was).

We booked directly through their own website and got 10% off, a free upgrade to a suite when we got there and free
breakfast. Cost us £300 for 2 nights.

The rooms were lovely, had a seperate tub and rain shower, nice sofa area and other cool little extras, Nespresso machine, Prosecco on arrival etc. Would thoroughly recommend. They have some other London hotels in the chain too.

I’ve stayed at the Premier Inn at Victoria and Southwark Borough Market. Both are close to tube stations. Victoria is an easy walk to the Buckingham Palace, Westminster areas. Southwark is great for all the attractions of Southbank, Tower of London etc and has a good choice of places to eat. Hotels were both good, decent breakfast and rooms clean and in good conditon

I've stayed at a few, favourite was The Grange St Pauls, which is, funnily enough, right next to the cathedral! It was within that budget but the first time we booked it I think it was a mystery hotel, but from the description it was obvious which it was, as I wanted one with a pool and spa.

I really rate Premier Inn Blush

Cheap, central, good breakfast - not the romantic option, but really worked for us.
We spent our budget on shows and food Grin

The Dorsett in Shepherds Bush is right next door to Westfield and Shepherds Bush underground (Central Line - 10 mins to Oxford Circus). The overground Station is a short distance away as is the Hammersmith and City line at Shepherds Bush Market. Just about in budget.

We stayed in the Radisson Blu near Warren Street tube at the end of Tottenham Court Road.

Great location as so central and walking distance to theatres, Oxford Street , loads of bars and restaurants nearby etc. Also only 10 mins walk from Euston Station if you're travelling by train

The Hoxton is Holborn seems quite expensive unless you have a shoebox room. Yes, that’s what they are called! Nearer £200 a night in the summer during the week if you want any space at all!

I'd second The Hoxton in Holborn, dead central to walk to Covent Garden, get the tune to Oxford Street etc.

Lincolns Inn club Quarters is also near there and opposit a park with a lovely tearoom for brunch in it, quirky little alley to get there.

I also stayed at The Kingsley (Thistle Holborn) recently, again central well priced and a boutique feel for what is a chain hotel.

For low budget you can get The Travelodge Holborn for £80 a night, good location, awesome comfy beds but very basic inside, depends on what you want.

Can you tell I work in Holborn a lot?

Oh and if you can get a deal try The Renaissance at Kings Cross, it is truly beautiful, the renovated staircase is where the spice girls hit was filmed, the bar is beautiful, moody and buzzing, and the features of it being straight onto St Pancras platforms are really interesting,

Expensive though but I managed to get a cheap deal one night and have been scouting ever since to stay again Grin

I’m currently in the Park plaza at Westminster bridge - you don’t get much more central and the room is lovely although it has a wierd internal window. It’s £170 a night on our company rate I think so you might get a deal around your budget.

The Strand Palace is well located (on The Strand obv) and is comfortable/clean and has a nice enough bar.

Holiday inn expressess are great value!

You can sometimes get good deals on Hilton metropole (Edgware) or Paddington.

Basically you want one walking distance to tube station in zone 1 or 2.

Thanks so much everyone, the hotels all look amazing, especially The Grange and Apex ones.
But I am going to book the Premier Inn at Victoria.
I can then use the saved money for nice treats.
Mumsnet is great 😁

I know a hotel that suits all your requirements like you want a Central London hotel, near the tube station and in your budget. So you can choose the London House Hotel that fulfils all your requirements for sure. I also have the same requirement and all completed with this hotel.
