Luxury stay in Cornwall / North Devon

Hello can anyone recommend a hotel/ cottage to stay in for about 5 days at the end of April?
It's my husbands birthday and I want to do something special.
We adore North Devon and Cornwall.

The problem is I can't find any hotels yet that I particularly like. We normally do an air bnb which is pretty handy as we have a baby. It would be nice to stay in a hotel for once though with proper facilities. I know it's shallow but the way that something is styled is very important to both of us.

We like a relaxed vibe but really well done so good interior design, good beds and linen, proper professional service and really good food and wine.

I have briefly looked at Bedruthan Hotel but I'm not sure if it will be a bit Naff if it is directed at families.

I really really really love family time so I am not getting at that , I just wonder if it will smell like kids farts and shoes there!

Ideas all.

Perfect type of place for us would be like the soho farm house.

Shoot!!!

Hotel Endsleigh? You can't beat a bit of Polizzi magic!

Talland Bay Hotel is (apparently) totally stunning.

Tycara in Polperro is very, very high end. A gorgeous house with amazing views.

Have you looked at Blue Chip for posh cottages?

Wow thanks everyone for the ideas I'll look at all of them now.

I've used blue chip in the past and found it a great way to book places but I am wondering if it's better to stay at a hotel in order to have faculties on foot and not have to drive for dinner etc (yes, we both love wine and then won't drive)

Right I'm going to look now and come back with my thoughts

Everyone else keep going!! Thanks

Looking at Endsleigh and Tresanton both lovely but difficult websites to navigate.
What's the reference to "no Muzak" is this meaning it's a very quiet place?

Following with interest! I'm also looking for a mini honeymoon destination for one wine drinker, one baby and one surfer!

@spugzbunny shall we go together 😂😬
Alex would have someone to play with
I would have someone to drink with
Dave would have someone to go watch a flat sea with!

Just our luck that the sea is always like glass when we go there with a surfboard wedged between us all the way from Kent!

Fowey Hall is one of the luxury hotel group, love it there.

The other place I can think of is Bovey Castle, we've had a couple of lovely stays there. Not near the coast though if that's important to you. Their bar is incredible, we went for our wedding anniversary and I merrily went through their Gin menu. Brasserie lovely, and overall service is outstanding, and grounds lovely to meander through.

The Scarlett if it's just the two of you - same beach as Bedruthan but my childless (or child free) friends rave about it. Bedruthan doesn't smell or have a Pontins vibe but it's way overpriced for what it is. We had a holiday there out of season and it felt like a family holiday factory - it is what it is!

If it's a big sleeps 10+ cottage you're after check out Tregulland it's off the charts of amazing ness but suitably spendy and booked up. Worth a look tho.

I would have loved Bedruthan with dc. It’s fab.

Look at Kate & Toms for gorgeous self catered homes. We are staying at Lamper Head in Dartmouth soon - indoor pool plus hot tub deck, and the option to have massages/treatments at home!! It might not be the right location for you, but they have plenty of properties.

Oh, also it sleeps 16 - so definitely not the right property for you! Ha... sorry. Brain not engaged, clearly.

The Scarlett is amazing if you can go child free

I was going to say Endsleigh, gorgeous and a baby monitor would stretch from some of the bedrooms to the restaurant Smile.

Scarlet is the sister to Bedruthan, and is adults only. And twice the price.

Watergate Bay hotel is fabulous.

Sorry, failed the reading comprehension test..... Bedruthan is where I'm looking to go with DH soon, because we can't afford the Scarlet. We don't have kids, and I gather the hotel isn't focused on them as such.

Birchill Farm near Torrington - on the right coast for your surfing beaches, it's self-catering but really comfortable, and the owners have thought of everything you need for travelling/relaxed holiday with a baby. Obvs no hotel restaurant/bar but there are pubs nearby and a freezer of COOK ready meals with an honesty box should you not feel like either shopping or going out.
