Hi, recommendations would be really appreciated for a pub with nice rooms, good food and log fires for a weekend away in February. A small village/town would be best so that we can go on some walks and also have a wander around some little shops and go to some other pubs. It'll be for my 40th and there will be 8 or so adults going. If it can cost less than 100 a night, that would be good. Thanks in advance!

The Red Lion in Burnsall ticks all your boxes bar being sub £100pn. It's one of my favourite places in the whole world. Amazing countryside and walks, excellent food and hospitality. I think you could get a good deal on room rates if you look at external booking sites? Or their Manor House b&b is just a few yards down the road from the pub and significantly cheaper... www.redlion.co.uk/index.cfm

Definitely look at the separate B&B, rates are very reasonable. So much so that I'm now thinking about trying to organise an overnight break for me and DH Grin

The Angel inn at Hetton. Beautiful. You’d have to drive out to small towns/villages to explore though.

The Shibden Mill Inn near Halifax is the best place near Leeds I've ever stayed. It's cosy with a good restaurant and boutique rooms in a gorgeous location on a stream. Not overpriced or over rated. Loads to do in the area like Shibden Hall, Piece Hall in Halifax, a water park at the Huddersfield swimming pool, Eureka etc etc. I stayed there with my 4 year old and we had a wonderful time

Not sure how far it is from Leeds but I’d recommend the sun inn at Kirkby Lonsdale. In fact I’d recommend the whole of Kirkby Lonsdale.

I agree Helmsley is lovely.

The Queens Head at Troutbeck - top end of your travel distance though. Excellent food and great walking. Offers on this time of year too.
