I need to meet a friend half way between London and Derby tomorrow, and it has to be somewhere on the train line.

Kettering and Wellingborough are about half way. Which would be easiest to get to (I will drive from Derby with 2 DCs, she will come on train) and find a nie cafe or park to meet at?

TIA

Kettering is very easy from Derby, just down the M1 to junction 19 and across the A14. There's a park very close to the station.

It takes me about an hour from Littleover to Kettering by the way, but that's probably driving too fast .

Jillybaby THANKYOU! I am just now checking how much the trains cost and I might even go on the train too - DD would love it. I'm not a great fan of motorway driving.

Are there any cafes close to the station?

BTW, we are neighbours, I live in Sunnyhill/Littleover

There's certainly a little cafe on the station platform, not sure if there's anything else right there.
I live in Heatherton.

oh well, I'm sure we will find something. I will bring sandwiches for the CDs just in case though!

Heatherton is lovely. We are on the other side of Stenson from you, not far from the library and the fish bar, which DH is well aquainted with!

If you don't mind walking a bit it would take 5-10 minutes from the station to reach the edge of town where there's a hotel and maybe some cafes opposite the market.
Have a good day.
