Hello all,

Just looking for some suggestions really. I'm 23 weeks pregnant and me and DH fancy getting away for 2-3 days in October before I get too big and immobile.

We live in Bristol and fancy getting away to a quiet / interesting coastal town somewhere. We can't drive so public transport there is a must!

Any suggestions?

I'd have a look at where in Cornwall you can get to on the train but be warned it will be quite a long journey (I remember a train journey from Bristol to penzance that took forever) ! Praying for good weather because if you haven't a car then if the weather is bad you may be restricted on what you can do aside from walking on wet beaches.

Train to Dawlish is easy from Bristol (along the coast for part of the way) and a good value, but not grand, place to stay. Train station is in town centre right by beach and lots of holiday cottages within 5 mins walk. Coastline, regular trains to Teignmouth (5 mins) for variety, Exeter (20 mins) if you want a bit of culture and Torquay (c 20 mins) where there's more going on if you want to explore.

Ah yes, I think Cornwall is too far, and we have been there already this year! Thinking just a little quick trip somewhere a tad closer :)

St Ives is good if you've no car - in fact it's a nightmare if you do - as the train station is right in the town and there's plenty to do there for 2-3 days. As well as St Ives itself, you can go to Carbis Bay (beaut beach) on the bus! And there are tour companies in St IV that do day trips around the area as well. Just don't go in half term if at all possible as it gets super busy!

Thanks @MuchBenham St Ives does sound lovely though!

Lyme Regis is a contender, just wondering if it might be a little too sleepy, we want quiet but interesting! haha

Swanage is very nice too and should be quiet this time of year. Corfu castle is stunning and you can get the ferry over to Poole...near sandbanks.
At Poole you can get a short boat ride to brownsea island or take another boat up to wareham
Lovely area.
Came back from there about 2.5 weeks ago

Weymouth. There are direct trains from Temple Meads station.

Go inland. Grab a wiltshire village near a train line or go across to cheltenham for a spa stay. Alternatively, take you pick from wales.

Train to Portsmouth, then: www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/offers/cruise-stay-hotel-breaks/2-night-st-malo

(There's a helipad on board in case of medical emergencies)
