We are looking to book for mid August
. Can anyone recommend a good holiday park. Also not been to Cornwall before so the best part of Cornwall even!

August this year? A lot of places will be fully booked, so be prepared to contact more than one park!

Anyway, Hendra Holiday Park on the outskirts of Newquay is great - lots going on, entertainment, swimming pools, and beautifully kept grounds.

North Cornwall is good for surfing/bodyboarding. Get a bodyboard and wetsuit for 12 year old when there. The beaches round Newquay and perranporth are all pretty surfy. At this late booking and with a dog you'll have to take what's available tbh. Unless you mean next year !

We've just come back with two teenagers. Stayed on the south coast but if I was to go again I'd definitely go north near Newquay.

check the dates that its not boardmasters or any of the other things on in Newquay in that week. otherwise it will be over run with drunk noisy teenagers. Newquay is very different from the rest of cornwall. a magnet for hen and stag weekends. hopefully you will be away from all of this. check out the visit cornwall guides for places to take your dog. some of the beaches will be dog ban and they have a list on their website of where you can go with your dogs. I think they have a brochure called dogs love cornwall that might be worth getting hold of so you know where you can and cant take the dog.

There might be loads of A level students celebrating their success that week (A level results are on Thursday). When we holidayed near Padstow a few years ago the local news was full of reports about antisocial behaviour in Newquay.

As long as you avoid the rowdiness you should have a great time. I love Cornwall.
